7 of My Favorite Lipstick Shades

Date:

Lipsticks for winter, summer, brunettes, blondes, and redheads. Who wouldn’t want all those colors? I know I can’t! And today I’m going to talk about my favorite colors of lipstick. I probably shouldn’t even say the phrase “lipstick” because I don’t use them very often, but please bear with me; I love them too. Here I go:

Bright Red

Bright Red Check out: YSL Rouge Pur Couture SPF 15
Cost: $30.00 at sephora.com
Color: 1 Le Rouge (Blood Red)

When I was blonde, I was too scared to wear red or orange, but now that I’m back on the “dark side,” I can really embrace this sexy color! I chose YSL not only because of the color, but also because I’ve always had fantastic experiences with this brand and I’m hoping this one will be just as good. When you choose a darker hue, make sure the lipstick isn’t too dry. We all know that even dry, allegedly long-lasting formulas can’t work magic. For example, I have a beautiful one that is incredibly pigmented, but the only problem is that it dries out too quickly, so I have to put on a fresh coat of lip gloss every half hour. That makes me tired!

    Nude

Nude Look at: Too Faced Lip of Luxury
    Cost: $20.00 at sephora.com
    Color: Beige (Totally Nude)
There isn’t much to say about this shade. I’m sure every female has at least one nude lipstick in her beauty bag. I think matte nude hues are perfect for winter because my complexion is too light and won’t take any other color. I use this hue the most because I get tired of having to correct my makeup every two seconds, and we all know that nude isn’t as “demanding” as other, darker shades.

    Nude Rose

Nude Rose Check out Bobbi Brown Treatment Lip Shine SPF 15.
    $22.00 at sephora.com
    Color: Desert Rose (Nude Rose)
If matte lipsticks in flesh tones are great for winter, this rosy shimmering nude is a must-have for summer! My skin changes color and needs new makeup after just two days of moderate sun exposure. I tan quite quickly. When matte nude shades aren’t an option, I usually choose something with a little more color and glitter. SPF is also a big advantage because it will keep my lips from drying out and burning when I’m trying to look glossy and important, like “Look! I finally put on some lipstick!

    Berry

Berry Price: $22.00 at sephora.com for Laura Mercier Lip Colour Shimmer
    Color: Violet (Cool Mauve Violet)
This is a beautiful color, but it will never look nice on me. I have a buddy who loves this color and wears it a lot, so I can try it on and let the mirror convince me out of buying it right away. This might be a little off-topic, but since I brought up sampling, I have to ask: do you ever use samples in stored? I can’t bring myself to attempt something that so many people have already touched!

“Making yourself look better doesn’t always imply aiming for the shiny look. More women are now drawn to a finish that doesn’t shine. You may also get a perfect, soft glow with the correct tools and methods. Bright Orange

Orange in the Sun Check out: Lorac Breakthrough Performance Lipstic SPF 15
      Cost: $22.00 at sephora.com
      Color: It Girl (Coral)
So, when you return back from your summer vacation, try to remember what I said and give this color a try. It looks great on all skin tones, including bronzed complexion, blondes, brunettes, and redheads! If you don’t like rosy colors, this is a good color to look at. I love them all, but I need someone to tug my hair every time I forget to put it on!

        Chocolate

Chocolate Look at: Kat Von D Painted Love Lipstick
        Cost: $18.00 at sephora.com
Color: Cathedral (Spiced Pinkish Brown) and Prayer (Mauve Brown)
Yum, yum, yum! I have a blush like this one that collects pixie dust in my makeup bag, and I can’t even begin to tell you how sad it makes me. This color is totally not me! I don’t know how many impulse buys I need to make before I figure it out. It was never going to happen and it never will. I tell myself that I can make it work, but then I become sad when I see that I appear like a circus freak. So…This summer, I’ll try again.Who knows? I’m way too pale right now.

        Vine

Vine See: Clinique Long Lasting Soft Shine Lipstick
        Cost: $14.50 at sephora.com
        Color: Merlot
This color is one of my all-time favorites since it’s rich, sexy, and so glam. It also looks well on me! Yay!! If only there were a way to get myself to stop being so lazy about putting on lipstick! But really, a lot of my favorite colors are dark and need a lot of checking and adjusting, and I’m always afraid I’ll forget about it and walk about looking like a clown. Still, it’s an amazing color, so I’m extremely delighted to be able to wear it, even if it’s just once or twice a year.
