7 Uses for Expired Cosmetics

Date:

You shouldn’t change the texture of expired makeup or turn it into a different makeup product. A lot of advice I’ve seen says to repurpose old cosmetics to make new beauty products at home, even if it can sound like a good idea. Don’t worry; you can still use your valuable but expired products in a lot of other ways! There are so many that you’ll probably regret you hadn’t thrown away some of the things you did. You don’t have to feel bad about it, though. Look at this list of ideas to find ways to use up cosmetics that are past their expiration date or to get the most out of a product that is about to expire.

I. Make a mascara wand into a separate brush

You can utilize the wand from your favorite mascara (or a really fancy one you bought) in a lot of different ways if you wash it carefully. If the wand is the right one for you and you don’t want to spend additional money on a new one, use it with the mascara you already have. You just need to remember to clean it carefully after each usage and keep it in a clean case. You may also use it to brush your eyebrows or to get rid of clumps and separate your lashes after you’ve put on mascara. In the end, you can apply it with cake mascara, which is an old-school product that takes some getting used to but is something every makeup lover should try. I think that’s a lot of ways to use old makeup! And this is just the beginning!

Changing your old mascara wand into a useful beauty tool is a great example of how to reuse things, and it also makes your makeup routine more eco-friendly. These brushes are great for cleaning up brow lines or even adding a little color to the roots of your hair during touch-ups. Also, in a hurry, they work as a fine tool for getting rid of flakes on lips or getting to those small inner lashes. Don’t underestimate how useful this little brush can be; it can do a lot more than what it was made for, which is the sign of a true beauty lover.

II. Cake products can also be used as body paint

Even though cake products last the longest, that doesn’t mean it’s safe to use them on your face and eyes after they’ve expired. Fortunately, your skin in other places isn’t as sensitive as your eyes and cheeks. This means you may use old makeup to make a realistic Halloween mask, cover up bruises, or give your legs a bronzy glow. Check that the makeup you want to use isn’t old, like smelling or looking strange, or you can’t recall when you got it. It should be anything that has just gone bad, is about to go bad, or is used very little and so carefully that it definitely should be rotten but isn’t since there hasn’t been any germs around to make it bad. And once more, you should only use these if you’re confident the product is still good.

Fortunately, other parts of your skin aren’t as sensitive as your eyes and cheeks. This means you may use old makeup to make a realistic Halloween mask, hide bruises, or give your legs a bronzy glow. If your makeup smells or looks bad or you can’t remember when you got it, be sure it’s not expired. It should be anything that has recently gone bad, is about to go bad, or has been used so sparingly and carefully that it probably should be terrible but isn’t. And once more, be careful with these and only use them if you’re confident the product is still good.

III. Powders can be used for crafts

This is a great application for old makeup that all you crafters may use! Your pigments, loose eye shadows, and bronzers can help you come up with new ideas for your next projects. If you like producing cards or scrapbooks, you can use them to make cool designs on paper. You can also sprinkle them between two coats of clear varnish to make wood and jewelry look more sparkly.

IV. Dried liners make great pencils

If your liners have dried up or were too dry to begin with, you can use them as art pencils or to leave messages on the fridge or whiteboard when you run out of magic marker. They are also useful to have around when you’re remodeling your home because they are considerably softer than conventional pencils, making them perfect for marking tough walls. They are also very easy to wash off of any glossy or glazed surface and are great for marking tiles or polished wood panels. I know that’s one way to use up old makeup, but you won’t be able to work out as much. It doesn’t hurt to say it, though. Since last summer, I’ve been doing a lot of renovations, and there’s a lot more to do as soon as the weather gets better. Of course, I’ll save my old eye pencils!

“Making yourself more beautiful doesn’t always imply aiming for the shiny look. More women are now interested in a finish that doesn’t shine. You may also get a perfect, subtle glow with the correct tools and methods. These amazing matte makeup tutorials will teach you how to master this trend. Improve your natural skin tone without the extra flash.”

V. Use face & body cream for lather goods

There are many good things to living in a hot and humid place! A lot to gripe about, too! For example, my body and face lotions tend to smell different if I leave them in the bathroom during the heat. You really do trade your hard-earned money for something that should last you three or four months. Please don’t put your fingers in it and find out that it doesn’t smell the same way after just a month. It’s not horrible, or at least it shouldn’t be, but there’s no way I’m going to put that on my face. There are always some leather products that need care, thus cosmetics are almost never wasted. You name it: boots, shoes, gloves, jackets, coats, and my husband’s cycling gear. Just rub the product in, let it soak in, and then rub off the extra. That’s all you need to do!

It’s crucial to remember that you should never put expired makeup on your face or skin because it might cause irritation or worse. You can still use cosmetics that have gone bad to condition leather items like boots, shoes, gloves, jackets, and coats. Just rub the product in, let it sit for a while, and then wipe out the extra. This can help bring the leather back to life and make it look brand new again. This is also a wonderful method to get the most out of your makeup and not waste money.

VI. There are a lot of ways to use nail polish

There are a lot of things you can do with old nail paint. You just need to thin it out to the right consistency, and then the fun can begin! My eye doctor told me to put clear nail polish on the rhinestones that are on the sides of my prescription glasses to keep them from slipping off. I never thought of this tip for using old makeup before. And my best friend painted the inside of her ring with black nail polish, which made a standard silver band with texture into a really interesting and, most importantly, one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry! But that’s not the end of the story! If you recycle your old polishes and use them with a different brush, you may accomplish a lot of fun arts and crafts projects.

VII. Enjoy by recycling or reusing

Ask around about businesses that will recycle your old beauty items and pay you even more if you return the packaging after finding new uses for it or throwing it away. Some brands give out coupons, and some will even give you a free product of your choosing in a normal size! You can also discover new applications for all the pretty pots and compacts you don’t want to throw away. YSL, Chanel, and Dior compacts are attractive enough to keep and use as pocket mirrors. Some even come with useful small brushes that you can wash, put in the right slot, and use with various products. You can use empty, clean glass jars that used to hold gel liner to store damaged lipsticks and face cream jars that you made yourself. Be creative!

Have you ever used old makeup for anything other than practicing three-pointers with a trash can? And do you ever feel bad about having to toss things away? I love makeup, but I hardly ever get to see the bottom of anything but mascara, foundation, and nude monos. What a waste!
