Christy Turlington, 57, shares the simple ‘well-aging’ beauty secret she swears by

Date:

Christy Turlington, 57, is still reinventing what ageing in fashion looks like. While most beauty headlines focus on miracle serums and spectacular makeovers, the 90s supermodel takes a different approach. Her approach is consistent, low-key, and centred on long-term care rather than rapid cures.

Turlington rose to global recognition with legends such as Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, and Claudia Schiffer, and she helped define 1990s supermodel culture. Decades later, she stands out not only for her professional longevity, but also for her calm, grounded approach to well-aging.

Inside her morning skincare routine.

During her participation on Bella Freud’s podcast Fashion Neurosis, Turlington discussed beauty, identity, and her evolving relationship with ageing. Her everyday routine is unexpectedly basic. Every morning, she starts by washing her face. Simply cleanse and reset. The moisturiser is thus elevated to the status of hero product.

Christy Turlington applies moisturizer several times a day

She uses moisturiser multiple times throughout the day. She doubles up in the winter, when her skin is more susceptible to dryness and inflammation. A second layer protects her skin barrier from cold air and indoor heating, both of which can cause moisture loss.

This behaviour is congruent with doctors’ recommendations: continuous hydrating strengthens the skin barrier, eliminates fine wrinkles produced by dryness, and keeps skin appearing smooth and robust.

A Natural Makeup Philosophy.

Turlington’s beauty look is simple and functional. She usually pulls her hair back and keeps her makeup light. A thin foundation, a bit of blush, and mascara are typically sufficient. The effect is refined but not overused.

Turlington’s beauty look is minimal and practical. She typically pulls her hair back and keeps her makeup light.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she stated, “I’m definitely an old-school Carmex or Chapstick type of person, because I’m constantly reapplying it to my dry lips, especially in the winter. However, not in terms of beauty. “My beauty preferences and favourites have evolved over time.”

This pared-down aesthetic mirrors her whole outlook. Beauty, for her, is not about disguising her age. It is about having good skin and presenting herself authentically. The model promotes the concept of “well-aging” – taking care of yourself so that your skin shows energy at any age.

“I mean, I appreciate stability and dependability, and Rénergie is the best cream moisturiser situation available. So I feel like that’s a constant for me. I adore skincare, as well as other items, but I always begin with my skin. I like a solid foundation that has a beautiful texture and gives adequate coverage while still allowing you to look like yourself. I think the Teint Idole foundation is ideal for this. I like minor embellishments or upgrades, like, I haven’t been in the sun in a long time, but today I have a little bit of extra colour, which makes me feel more rested and healthier than I did first thing this morning,” she says.
