Charlotte Mellington, who plays the younger Cathy to Margot Robbie’s adult Cathy in Wuthering Heights, recently attended her first red carpet event. Fortunately, a few of her best friends from school surprised her shortly before she walked the red carpet, calming her pre-premiere nerves.
“I was so happy to see them, especially because I think I needed a little confidence boost,” the 14-year-old says.
The young actress debuted on the West End as Lavender in Matilda the Musical, but Wuthering Heights is her first film role. The upcoming film stars Robbie and Jacob Elordi as the fatal core couple; as little Cathy, Charlotte portrays a violent and free girl who runs across the moors with young Heathcliff (played by Owen Cooper).
Charlotte realised she had nothing to be concerned about at the London premiere on Thursday, February 5th. “Last night was a dream,” she recalls, recalling the event from Friday morning, which provided a nice respite from studying for her Drama GCSE.

Charlotte wore a white off-the-shoulder dress from Shushu/Tong with a black ribbon to her debut premiere. Her stylist, Felicity, plucked it for her at her studio, and Charlotte knew it was the one. She wore it with white strappy low-heeled sandals.
“I think it did tie into the amazing costumes that Cathy wore,” Charlotte asserts; “the off the shoulder moment, this big skirt…” She complemented the look with Angie Power’s bespoke bag, which had embroidered flowers from her Wuthering Heights costume. “There’s a tiny C + H, Cathy + Heathcliff moment, which I think is adorable. I saw it and thought, “Oh my God,” because I got to keep it.
Her crew concentrated on a natural look for her glam, “some skin care, some natural lips, and making my eyes pop.” It was all extremely natural and uncomplicated. I quite like that.” Charlotte has sensitive skin and is still creating her own skin care routine. She currently uses Pinks Boutique’s Ocha moisturiser, toner, and cleanser. “I’ve had to put away all the trends, how you see everything on social media and it’s like, ‘Oh, buy this, buy that,'” according to her. “I think I’ve had to just put that aside and just try to do what’s best for my skin.”
Charlotte will turn 15 next month, and she is figuring out her particular style. She gravitates towards “classy, chic” clothes and elevated essentials. She claims that all of her pals are enamoured with the brand Nelly.com; she frequently “nicks” her best friend’s items from the brand. “They have the most flattering jeans.” I adore a bootcut low rise jean.”

In classic London fashion, the premiere night brought a lot of rain. “I was getting splashes up my ankles and sodden carpet,” she describes. “I think we took it in stride. Jacob certainly did. I believe he was loving the rain. I mention the photo of Elordi shielding Robbie’s hair from the rain while reenacting a scene from the film. “That was definitely a Cathy and Heathcliff moment.”
What is one of her favourite nighttime memories? Meet Charli XCX.
“Her album for Wuthering Heights is the most insane thing I’ve ever heard,” Charlotte tells me. “At the premiere, she was the Wuthering Heights bride. She looked amazing. It was nice to meet her. “She is the sweetest ever.”
Charlotte returned to her hotel room that night, knowing she’d be returning to school on Monday, with a sense of how bizarre her life is right now.
“I’m just like, ‘That just happened, didn’t it?'” says the woman. “I get home to my hotel, take off my makeup, and put on my pyjamas, and only an hour earlier I was at the Wuthering Heights premiere. That sounds insane to me. But that was the best experience I believe I could have had.
