Well, Well, Well—If It Isn’t 2025’s Most Talked-About Accessory Trend

Date:

There has been a change on the runways in the last two seasons. Before, the ready-to-wear clothes were what truly got people talking and stuck in their minds. But in recent collections, people have been paying more attention to accessories. The more character they have, the better. For example, think of pillbox hats, leather opera gloves, bigger handbags, and belts that make a statement. Ties were the most important accessory at the spring 2025 shows.

It’s funny that ties weren’t featured at a lot of different events, unlike most other accessory trends. They didn’t have to be to be the most talked-about accessory of the season. Saint Laurent only needed one show to get to the top. At the Paris Fashion Week show for the French fashion house, Bella Hadid and a lot of other top models wore big suits that looked like they were from a ’80s Wall Street thriller. They wore gold cuff bracelets, sky-high pumps, and for some, cold outerwear like satin overcoats and leather bombers. Some people donned the suits by themselves. What connects them all? All of them had flawlessly knotted ties.

After the event, people started talking about the looks, especially the ties that each model wore. Hadid’s Instagram slideshow from behind the scenes of the presentation went viral, which helped the trend grow. A few while later, Hailey Bieber donned a suit straight off the Saint Laurent runway to an event at Funke in Beverly Hills for Rhode. The suit was tan with a burgundy tie. And just like that, ties became the It buy of 2025, thanks to both Bieber and Hadid’s endorsements. The year hasn’t even started yet!

Before long, ties were all over my Instagram feed, on the grids of every well-dressed stylist, editor, and content creator. Some people, like Elsa Hosk, went for a more casual look, while others seemed to be inspired by Saint Laurent’s classic workplace style. She wore stovepipe jeans with her jacket, shirt, and tie. She did add Oxfords and a Hermès Kelly bag that looked like a briefcase, which were both excellent moves.
