Anya Taylor-Joy just argued for not one, but two of the year’s biggest red carpet trends. The actress, who served on the jury at the 22nd Marrakech International Film Festival, looked stunning at the festival’s closing ceremony on December 6 in a Tom Ford slinky black lace slipdress.
The delicate slipdress, with its plunging neckline, Art Deco-inspired sheer panelling, and lace trim, embraced the lingerie-as-clothing trend that has recently gained traction. This slipdress is similar to those worn by Emma Stone, Jennifer Aniston, Zoë Kravitz, and Andie Macdowell.

Taylor-Joy embraced yet another trend by wearing an exposed black bra beneath her dress. The bra had a thin halter strap and a sheer panel that peeked out from underneath the plunging dress. The peek-a-bra trend has recently gained popularity, with celebrities such as Kate Hudson, Selena Gomez, and Ariana Grande displaying their bras on the red carpet.

Taylor-Joy served on the festival jury alongside Jenna Ortega, Parasite director Bong Joon Ho, Past Lives and Materialists director Celine Song, Titane director Julia Ducournau, Bralizian director Karim Aïnouz, Moroccan filmmaker Hakim Belabbes, and Iranian-American actor/director Payman Maadi.
It’s a glamorous job, but as Taylor-Joy told us at InStyle a few years ago, she always strives to remain grounded. “I don’t think that I could be mentally stable and be walking around and thinking, yes, this all makes sense,” she told me. “I also have great friends who tease me mercilessly whenever I mention being overworked or stressed. They’re like, ‘Oh yeah, honey, it’s so sad that you have to get on a plane and go do whatever.’ It’s all in good fun, but they’re right; I’m extremely fortunate. I’m very fortunate. It’s a lot, but it’s still so weird.”
