If you want to know anything about the Who What Wear UK crew, it’s that we love fragrances. Every day at work, we’ll be spritzing new fragrances that end up on our beauty desk, looking for less expensive substitutes for our favorite designer scents, and figuring out exactly which perfumes celebs wear. Not to mention our amazing collections of personal fragrances. We wish to share our favorite scents with you since we adore perfume and there is no gatekeeping involved.
We want to switch up our fragrances for a summer perfume as summer is (finally) approaching. Additionally, orange blossom fragrances have recently been popular. Orange blossom, also known as fleur d’oranger, is a white flower with undertones of sweetness and freshness, occasionally with a musky, animal-like scent that is sensual and skin-like. However, not all scents of orange blossoms are made equal. The actual orange blossom may be the focal point of perfumes that intensify the note, like Serge Lutens Fleur d’Oranger (fun fact: Kate Moss wore this scent on her wedding day), or it may be tucked away among other floral notes in light, springtime scents, like Parfums De Marly’s Valaya. Other scents, like Kilian Paris’s Love, Don’t Be Shy (which is said to make Rihanna smell amazing), combine gourmet, appetizing components like vanilla and marshmallow with orange blossom.
Therefore, you’ve come to the perfect spot if you’re trying to find the best orange blossom perfume for yourself. Over the past month, I organized the Who What Wear UK team to test the top orange blossom fragrances. Their candid evaluations of the perfumes are provided here, along with information on which ones received the greatest praise and which ones you shouldn’t buy blindly online. The Best Orange Blossom Perfumes, Rated by Editors

1. Parfums De Marly Valaya

Important notes include vetiver, akigalawood, orange blossom, nympheal, musk, bergamot, mandarin, white peach, and ambrofix.
Advantages: Long-lasting, floral aroma, impressive sillage, and tons of compliments when wearing it.
Cons: The most costly of the group.
I was thrilled to obtain Valaya, the fragrance house’s interpretation of orange flower, because I adore Parfums De Marly (Delina and Althair are two of my current favorites). After a “everything shower” at a posh rural hotel, I felt as though I was wrapped in the fluffiest white robe upon first spritz. Then, on the first sunny day of spring, I opened the window to let in a refreshing breeze. It has the scent of the priciest soap bar combined with skin-like musk and white flowers, such as mandarin, orange blossom, and juicy white peach. To put it briefly, it smells like what I imagine heaven would smell like. Although it’s quite mild, the dry-down features woodsy akigalawood and ambery ambrofix with a musk base.
Our copy editor Georgia Seago asked me right away what the aroma was after I sprayed it across the office. A few days later, I was approached by a random coworker in our open-plan workplace who complimented me on my scent. She remarked, “It’s really soft and delicate.” Even though it wasn’t in my nose at the time, the scent was obviously working long after I applied it at 7 a.m., considering that this was at 3 p.m. Despite having notes that are frequently ephemeral in other fragrances, this one maintained sillage—a French term that refers to the scent trail that a perfume leaves behind as it evaporates—well into the day, in contrast to certain floral scents that have dismal lasting power.
To be honest, I can’t even remember how many times I’ve been complimented while wearing it. When the woody and musky tones emerge later in the day, I can still smell the fruity and flowery notes. But when I spray it on my clothes instead of my skin, I find that it lasts far longer. I would like to quickly top it up to revive the aroma if I were heading out in the evening. Naturally, at £245 for 75ml, this one is at the higher end of the price range. That being said, if you have the money to spend on a high-end perfume that truly lasts all day, then by all means do so. Additionally, the brand offers an exploration set that lets you sample its best-selling fragrances, such as Valaya. I plan to pick it up for my upcoming vacation.

2. Kilian Paris Love, Don’t Be Shy

Neroli, orange blossom, marshmallow, vanilla, honeysuckle, rose, and amber are important notes.
Advantages: Gourmand aroma, impressive sillage, excellent evening perfume selection, and many praises when wearing it.
Cons: Costlier than others.
Rumor has it that this is one of Rihanna’s favorite scents, so I was thrilled to get my hands on it. I knew it would be a winner after reading about the notes online. Inspired by feelings of first love, the fragrance includes zesty neroli, sweet marshmallow, and fresh orange flower. The sugary, fruity base undoubtedly conveys those notions of joy and innocence, and the warm amber adds a touch of sensuality, making this smell far more complex than I had anticipated.
When I first saw it, I was astonished by how sweet it was. This wasn’t a problem for me because I adore a gourmet aroma, but it could not be the right scent for you if you don’t like sweet perfumes. It’s the ideal nighttime choice because it leaves a tint of amber on the skin once it sets. I was unsure of this perfume’s longevity throughout the day because of its milder notes. This really lingers on the skin since I have never received so many praises on a scent, even though I couldn’t detect it on myself. Nevertheless, I did feel compelled to fill it up before leaving in the evening.
All things considered, I heartily recommend this if you’re searching for a sweeter scent for a spring or summer date night. The scent is quite alluring, and the bottle is an artistic creation. However, it should be noted that this perfume is not inexpensive; a 50ml bottle would cost £220. However, it will last you a long time because you don’t need to use a lot to make an impact. It’s sufficient for me if it’s sufficient for Rihanna.

3. Diptyque Eau Des Sens

Notes: Angelica, patchouli, juniper berries, orange blossom, and bitter orange.
Advantages: Good sillage, layered notes, long-lasting perfume, stylish bottle.
Cons: I had a slight migraine, however others haven’t experienced the same symptoms.
7 out of 10.
With its distinctive fusion of citrus, floral, and woody elements, Diptyque’s Eau Des Sens really appealed to my senses. After spending the last few hours looking at a screen, the rush of bitter orange and zesty lemon that I experienced as soon as I spritzed it on gave me the energy boost I needed. Hints of warm, resinous woods and spicy pepper appear as the scent develops, bringing depth and complexity that distinguish it from other orange perfumes I’ve smelled and keep me going back for more. In contrast, this seems like a much more mature view.
I have to concur with the many reviews that praise Eau des Sens for its long-lasting wear and exquisite formulation. Its little hint of warmth made it easy to shift from day to night, unlike other smells in my collection that blended flowers and fruits. It has a light scent that never overpowers, making it appropriate for any season. However, I would be negligent if I did not highlight an unanticipated negative effect that I experienced after wearing it for extended periods of time.
It took me some time to realize that this perfume was the reason, but after wearing it a few times, I began to experience headaches. But don’t let that stop you—I asked a friend to try it to see if she had the same experience, and she didn’t. She even mentioned that this scent might become her new favorite! Before choosing a smell, it’s important to take into account personal sensitivities because fragrance reactions differ from person to person. If you do frequently get migraines from perfume, you might want to look into these possibilities. Before committing to a whole bottle, I usually buy a sample or find the perfume in-store and generously mist myself with it. If you test any scent, not just this one, I would advise you to follow the same procedure in case you experience an unfavorable reaction. I spoke with Eleanor about it, and she informed me that a perfume I use constantly without any problems gives her headaches—more evidence that every scent is entirely personal.
All things considered, Diptyque’s Eau Des Sens provides a sensory experience that pleases most of its wearers, demonstrating the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and creativity in perfumery. Eau Des Sens is definitely worth checking out if, like me, you’re drawn to clean, citrusy fragrances with a hint of refinement. This is why I gave it a 7 out of 10. My pal? “9,” she said.

4. YSL Libre

Mandarin, petitgrain, lavender, blackcurrant accord, orange blossom absolute, jasmine sambac and jasmine grandiflorum, Madagascar vanilla, cedarwood, ambergris, and musk are some of the main notes.
Advantages: More economical than others, long-lasting, and a little goes a long way.
Cons: Some people may find the orange blossom fragrance overpowering.
Score: 8 out of 10.
To be completely honest, I have only worn one smell for the last 14 years of my life and have never strayed from it. I wore Chanel Coco Mademoiselle for so long that my friends would think of me when they smelled it on the street. That being said, this year has been both tough and fascinating for me since I’ve been experimenting with various scents and notes! I knew I had discovered something wonderful as soon as I spritzed YSL’s Libre upon my wrist. With notes of orange blossom, lavender, and vanilla, it comes to life with an opulent, mature essence that creates a delightful summer scent. My boyfriend, who often has something to say about my perfumes, was positively delighted with the aroma when I asked him what he thought. He said that the scents of suncream and hot weather transported him to a far-off place, like a vacation.
The perfume gradually fades to a faint vanilla-musky scent. I didn’t feel the need to reapply it during the day or at lunch because it has a powerful first application and lasts all day. You only need to spray it once on the neck and each wrist. I would reapply for an extra spruce if I had dinner plans, but that is a matter of taste. If you wear it all day, the perfume will be mild, but without that top-up, I feel naked. Since the bottle will last a long time if you don’t refill it often, I believe it is a nice investment. If you were calculating praises per wear, it’s well worth the money! However, because this note is strong, I would steer clear of it if you’re not a huge fan of orange blossoms.
