Bill Hader and Ali Wong Break Up After Almost Three Years Together

Bill Hader and Ali Wong have broken up after more than two years of dating.

It was challenging for them to keep up the romance because of their hectic schedules and family responsibilities, a source told People. According to the insider, “it was too difficult to make the relationship work with Ali’s upcoming stand-up tour and Bill’s various film and TV projects this year.”

“They’re focusing on their work and kids, while continuing to support and root for each other,” the source continues. Things are still “very amicable” between Hader and Wong, who are still friends and stay in touch on a regular basis.

When Wong failed to mention Hader in her acceptance speech at the 2025 Golden Globes or walk the red carpet with him, rumors of their relationship began to circulate early last year.

A spokesperson for Hader at the time told People that the couple was still together and that Hader had been unable to attend the event because of a health problem.

Wong and Hader didn’t start dating until years after they first met in 2016 while working on The Angry Birds Movie.

Hader and Wong, who briefly dated in the fall of 2022, rekindled their romance following Wong’s divorce from ex-husband Justin Hakuta, which was finalized in May 2024, according to earlier confirmation in April 2023.

After eight years of marriage, Wong and Hakuta initially declared their separation in April 2022. The divorce was “amicable and they will continue to co-parent lovingly,” a source told People at the time.

The divorce was finalized in May 2024, but Wong did not formally file for divorce until December 2023.

Wong discussed her public divorce in her October 2024 Netflix special Ali Wong: Single Lady.

According to her, “divorce gets a really bad reputation and it can sound really scary and full of acrimony.” “However, consider me as a different illustration of how it can be: my ex-husband and I are best friends.”

“I need to respect him, and I need him badly,” she continued.

Additionally, Wong disclosed that Hader contacted her after finding out about her divorce. He allegedly texted her to say he had a “forever” crush on her after obtaining her number from a mutual friend and asking her to be his girlfriend.

Wong went on to say that Hader even sent her flowers during her European trip. During the special, she declared, “I did fall in love again.” Some of you may recognize the man. The man who sent me all of those flowers in Europe just so happens to be the one.

On January 16, Wong will resume her live tour, which will begin in Houston, Texas. In spring 2026, the tour will come to an end.
