According to reports, the mother of Adam Peaty’s son called the Olympic swimmer’s decision to alter his name after getting married to Holly Ramsay “hypocritical.”
Following his Saturday marriage to 25-year-old Holly Ramsay at Bath Abbey, 31-year-old Adam Peaty announced on Instagram that he will now be known as Ramsay-Peaty.
Holly has subsequently changed her Instagram account to @hollyramsaypeaty and seems to have changed her name as well.
Eiri Munro, who has a five-year-old son named George with the Strictly Come Dancing star, is reportedly dissatisfied with the choice.
Friends of the artist, who separated from Peaty in 2021, assert that she had earlier requested that George adopt the last names of both parents, but that request was turned down.
“It feels a bit rich to Eiri that Adam has been quick to change his name but didn’t allow her the same right for their son,” Munro’s pal told The Sun. Adam seems to be acting a little hypocritically.
The family member added that despite the criticism, Munroe spoke well of Peaty’s new bride and was happy to see George at the wedding festivities.
Adam has benefited much from Holly’s influence. George is adored by both of them. The insider went on, “Eiri understands she is fortunate that George has a stepmother like Holly.
“She can’t blame Adam as a father, even though she claims he has double standards for changing his name.”
While Munro was training in Loughborough, where Peaty was a student, they connected on Tinder in 2019.
George, their son, was born in September 2020. After what has been called a hard separation, the couple divorced in 2022.
“I’ve chosen to forgive and move forward – anything else does not serve the wellbeing of myself, my son, and our family,” Munro told the Daily Mail in reference to the breakup last year.

“We wish Adam a full recovery and continue to love, care for, and pray for him.”
Peaty’s name change coincides with a continuing family dispute that caused his father Mark and mother Caroline to skip the Bath Abbey wedding.
The Daily Mail claims that after Peaty’s mother Caroline was allegedly left out of Holly’s hen party invitations, the conflict intensified.
Caroline told the newspaper ahead of Saturday’s event, “I don’t think they understand how much they have hurt me; it’s as if they have cut my heart out.” My family is broken, and this is the first Christmas that I haven’t spent with them.
“They are both still loved, there is nothing I won’t forgive, and I want them to have the best day,” she continued during the unpaid interview.
Holly’s bridesmaids, Megan and Tilly, as well as Peaty’s sister Bethany, were among those photographed at the Saturday wedding.
Channel 5 anchor Dan Walker and Dragons’ Den actress Sara Davies, who competed with Peaty on series 19 of Strictly Come Dancing and was present at the wedding, paid respect to the newlyweds.
Former football player Sir David Beckham, his wife, fashion designer Lady Beckham, and their youngest children, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper, were also among the famous people who attended the event on Saturday.
When the two participated in Strictly in 2021, Peaty allegedly met his new wife through her sister Tilly.
