If Gwyneth Paltrow makes a significant comeback to acting, she plans to be more “discerning” with her roles.
The Oscar-winning actress recently returned to the screen with Josh Safdie’s gripping film Marty Supreme, in which her retired actress character had an affair with Timothée Chalamet’s table tennis champion, following a five-year hiatus.
The Goop founder has had an uptick in calls regarding screen projects since her return was publicised, but she hasn’t signed up for anything else because she isn’t sure if she wants to work as an actress full-time once more.
“I haven’t accepted anything yet. I considered a few options, but I have a lot on my plate with my business in terms of scheduling. She told The Hollywood Reporter, “I also don’t have to hurry. “I think if I was going to step back into this, I would do it differently than I did it last time.”
Paltrow stated that she aspires to emulate Leonardo DiCaprio, who is very deliberate about the roles he takes on, if she decides to resume her acting career in earnest.
“Leo has managed his career so beautifully, in my opinion. When I was in my twenties, no one told me that, so it’s all been about what he said yes and no to,” she added. “So if I’m going to do it again, I’m going to take a page out of Leo’s book and be more discerning.”
The Shakespeare in Love actress revealed that she felt compelled to accept any project that was offered to her when she first began acting at the age of 18.
“I never even paused to consider whether this project was worthwhile. “Is this a good director?” she remembered. And perhaps you shouldn’t—you’re a child, and you’re involved in a lot of fun activities. Additionally, there is an insecure part of you that believes you must continue doing it. I felt like I had to say yes to everything, and eventually I burned myself out completely.
Marty Supreme is currently playing in theatres.
