On Wednesday, December 31, Kaplan died in New York City, according to Page Six. The cause of death is yet unknown.

The former cohost of Fashion Police continued by sharing some of her best moments with Kaplan, such as the day he dressed up as Osbourne.
“You were the funniest person!” She penned. “A girl could not have asked for a better wingman than you. Every moment of our 25-year friendship was worthwhile.
Page Six was informed on Thursday by the New York Police Department that the chief medical examiner will ascertain the cause of death in the investigation into the death of a 46-year-old man who died at Kaplan’s apartment complex.
As a skilled makeup artist, Kaplan worked with a number of famous people, such as Lynda Carter, Eva Longoria, and Cyndi Lauper.
Tinsley Mortimer, a former cast member of The Real Housewives of New York City, hired Kaplan to do her glam after she wed Robert Bovard in November 2023.

In September 2024, Kaplan and Frankel on a unique work trip to Paris, which he called a “trip of a lifetime.”

In 2016, Kaplan made an appearance on Lance Bass’s gay Bachelor-style dating program for Logo. In week two, he was finally eliminated.
