The complete list of nominees for the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards will be revealed by two of the fastest-rising stars in the United Kingdom.
The nominees announcement, which will be livestreamed on BAFTA’s YouTube and X channels, will begin at 12 p.m. U.K. (4 a.m. PT) on January 27 at the British Academy’s headquarters at 195 Piccadilly in London and be hosted by David Jonsson and Aimee Lou Wood.
With 16 nominations across the longlist categories, Paul Thomas Anderson’s biting U.S. satire “One Battle After Another” leads the first round of BAFTA voting. This is a record since the round’s inception in 2021, and it is anticipated to maintain its dominance into the nominations. With 14 longlist spots apiece, “Hamnet” and “Sinners” are further behind, followed by “Marty Supreme” with 13 and “Bugonia” and “Frankenstein” with 12.
Wood and Jonsson are both familiar with the BAFTAs. For her breakthrough performance in the Netflix series “Sex Education,” Wood, whose fame skyrocketed after the third season of “The White Lotus” last year, took home the BAFTA TV award for best female comedy performance. She is currently filming Sam Mendes’ four-part Beatles biopic and was nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2023.
In contrast, Jonsson currently holds the BAFTA Rising Star Award, which he received in 2025 after his breakthrough performance in “Rye Lane” and “Alien: Romulus.” He recently starred in two films: Wasteman, which is on the BAFTA longlist for an exceptional debut by a British writer, director, or producer, and The Long Walk. Soon, Jonsson and Sydney Sweeney will co-star in the Colman Domingo-directed film “Scandalous!” as Sammy Davis Jr.
The Rising Star nominees for each of the BAFTA film award categories have already been announced. Chase Infiniti (“One Battle After Another”), Miles Caton (“Sinners”), Archie Madekwe (“Lurker”), Robert Aramayo (“I Swear”), and Posy Sterling (“Lollipop”) are among the artists on this year’s lineup, which was revealed on Wednesday.
Voting in the second round ends on January 20. On February 22, the BAFTA Film Awards ceremony will be held at London’s Royal Festival Hall, following the announcement of nominations on January 27.
