I Got a Lagree Microformer and Tried It for 30 Days—Here’s How I Did

I make an effort to push myself to learn something new each year. I was fascinated to learn about the Lagree workout because I’m obsessed with trying to keep active and healthy. Sebastien Lagree created the Lagree Method, which consists of a variety of exercises that emphasize strength, endurance, cardio, flexibility (which I lack), and balance. The website claims that some of Lagree’s exercises can simultaneously work up to 600 muscles. Doesn’t that sound painful?

Although I’ve visited the studio in Los Angeles a few times, I was surprised to learn that they also have a machine at home called Microformer that you can use to broadcast lectures. I assumed it couldn’t be too difficult because I’ve never done Pilates. I was mistaken about that, boy.

I thought it would be great to put away my running shoes for a while and switch to The Micro for a month because I’ve been enjoying at-home exercises lately and seeing that this is Meghan Markle’s favorite exercise. I began by purchasing a $10 monthly subscription to the Lagree website, which let me to access more than 150 on-demand lessons. With this high-intensity, low-impact exercise, there are sessions for beginning, moderate, and expert fitness levels. Subscribers can select from a wide variety of lessons taught by multiple professors.

I choose to enroll in beginner sessions exclusively for the first few weeks before progressively advancing to intermediate. Warning: lessons for beginners were really challenging.

The Microformer is an impressive device. It’s very adaptable in its uses and can be carried almost anywhere (if you’re strong, I couldn’t carry it myself due to its weight). I kept it in my flat beneath my desk and pulled it out whenever I felt like working out.

The exercises were really challenging for me, even though some of the routines might be enjoyable. I kept a notebook to provide an inside look at my experience with Lagree over the course of a month (four courses per week):

Workout #1

Classes: Lori’s Upper Body #24 (11 minutes), Lori’s Legs #19 (40 minutes), and Siobhan’s Abs and Arms #41 (11 minutes); beginner level

What happened: In order to acquire a feel for the machine, I chose to begin the first day with a variety of short-form videos that lasted roughly ten minutes. To put it simply, this is the most difficult workout I have ever done in my life. As I supported my body weight, my first reaction to the machine’s movements was that my hands were killing me. I began by enrolling in beginner classes, which were rather challenging. I hope it becomes easier.

Workout #2

Class: Lori’s Legs #19 (40 minutes); beginning

What happened: My legs were trembling more than ever after today’s workout. Never in my life have I faced such a task. I’m hoping that with time, I’ll gain strength.

Workout #3

Class: Lori’s Full Body #5 (25 minutes); Intermediate level

What happened: Although we used micro cables in the exercise, I must admit that I preferred this one a bit more than the others because it was more adaptable. The machine is becoming easier to use, but the exercises are not.

Workout #4

Class: Maggie’s Full Body #14 (44 minutes); beginning level

What transpired: I’m no longer scared to make mistakes, and this workout flew past. For a novice, I believe I’m fairly respectable.

Workout #5

Class: Lori’s Full Body #14 (41 minutes); beginner level

What happened: I almost died today when we had to perform pushups.

Workout #6

Class: Siobhan’s Full Body #1 (42 minutes); Intermediate level

What transpired: This workout felt easy, almost like a beginner’s class. I believe my strength is increasing.

Workout #7

Class: Haylee’s Full Body #3 (42 minutes); beginning level

What transpired: Haylee was an excellent teacher. This exercise went by so quickly!

Workout #8

Class: Lori’s Full Body #2 (46 minutes); beginner level

What transpired: Although “Soul Train” sounds like a pleasant move, it was far more difficult than the title suggests. I’m exhausted, but I’m beginning to feel more assured about my balance. I rode my bike for thirty minutes to end the day.

Workout #9

Class: Intermediate level Full Body #2 with Allie (41 minutes)

What happened: I’m beginning to like this computer, which is unbelievable to say. I go crazy every time the instructor says to “pulse” it since pulsing is the hardest part and my glutes are burning. It is more difficult than it seems to maintain control of the carriage.

Workout #10

Class: Siobhan’s Core #9 (26 minutes); introductory

What happened: Because this workout lasted only 25 minutes, it wasn’t as bad as the others, but my core was burning.

Workout #11

Class: Intermediate level Full Body #25 led by Maggie (41 minutes)

What happened: The crawling bear nearly killed me, making this the hardest workout. Positively, today was the day I perspired the most.

Workout #12

Class: Intermediate level; Siobhan’s Full Body #23 (42 minutes)

What transpired: I had a great exercise. The strange part is that she keeps referring to it as a beginning when speaking, even if the intensity level indicates Intermediate.

Workout #13

Class: Maggie’s Full Body #18 (41 minutes); Intermediate level

What transpired: I felt like I was being punished for this one. I’m beginning to believe that I’m not exactly an intermediate Lagree girl because it was so difficult. The model made the move appear really simple, however the planks on the other side of my mini are lethal, thus the only thing that prevented me from giving up was changing the motion to make it simpler. Who is that strong? Not me.

Workout #14

Class: Intermediate level; Full Body #27 by Lori (41 minutes)

What transpired: Although I like Lori’s workouts, “Escalator Warrior” nearly killed me, and the twisting saw was nearly impossible.

Workout #15

Class: Intermediate level Full Body #28 led by Maggie (41 minutes)

What happened: Fun fact: The French twist motion doesn’t get any easier, but this workout does.

Workout #16

Class: Siobhan’s Upper Body #19 (43 minutes); Intermediate level

What took place: Two words: Very difficult. Who created the Cobra move, by the way? The term “cobra” is one I wish to never hear again. penalty for working out that is cruel and unusual.

My Overall Review

All things considered, I would heartily suggest this machine to anyone wishing to push themselves beyond their comfort zones. This is the hardest I’ve ever been tested. I sobbed twice throughout my first week of use simply because I couldn’t execute the maneuver right. I also punished myself for not being adaptable.

In my opinion, anyone who does Pilates will benefit much from this exercise, but as someone who really enjoys jogging (10 miles at once), I found it to be really challenging. Supporting my own body weight, particularly my upper body weight, was the most difficult part of this workout. This workout’s rapid pace is what I found most enjoyable. The 40- to 50-minute workout was gone before I knew it, despite the fact that some of the moves and the planking time can seem to go by very slowly.

The teachers are outstanding as well. “Modify, don’t quit” is a general guideline that anyone can learn from this exercise. Many of these exercises may physically knock you to your knees, but if a technique is difficult, it’s better to adjust it rather than give up. I received two black springs and two red springs when my machine was fully filled. Because the red springs provide resistance throughout each exercise move on the machine, they will be more difficult. Using a red spring would be your best option if you’re seeking for a challenge or torment.

Additionally, anyone who attempts this workout should expect to shake—a lot. When the instructor asks you to pulse each action, the exercises will range from challenging to completely impossible. Instructors will tell pupils to do each maneuver slowly in order to achieve the optimum benefits. Beyond The Microformer’s more challenging elements, form is crucial. One important factor in achieving success is keeping a mirror close at reach.

Not only did The Microformer strengthen me, but it also helped me understand the value of mindfulness, which is one of the things I value most about it. I’ve never worked out with such intense concentration. My biggest weaknesses are balance and flexibility, which are the focus of many of the techniques. They offer a weighted pole that you can buy on the website, but I used a broom to assist me balance.

I discovered how helpful it is to focus and be in the present when I performed these exercises four times a week. The Microformer will be your best buddy if you want to lift that booty and get snatched for the summer.
