You might remember the first time you saw Chloé’s now-famous Maxime Sandals in Kamali’s first autumn/winter 24 Chloé collection. A thick wooden wedge with fun doodles carved into it and a shiny black leather strap that was seen on the whole front row, including Sienna Miller, Liya Kebede, and Georgia May Jagger.
The Maxime quickly became a hit, as expected, and became the season’s most boho-cool shoe. Since then, it has helped bring back the wooden wedge in a big way, with many brands making their own versions. Chloé has even changed the style for spring and summer 2025 by making a clear plastic version that is already sold out in some sizes.
Also, they’re very easy to style. A floor-length maxi dress or sheer skirt with a suede shirt may seem like the obvious choice for a full-on boho look, but a simple pair of loose-fitting jeans and a white shirt will work just as well. This shows that the retro shoe trend will fit in with a lot of our clothes.
