Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their first joint appearance of 2026, participating in a talk for Oprah Winfrey’s Oprah Daily platform about the impact of phone-based childhoods, a topic on which they have long spoken out.
At one point during the January 8 call, Hello! According to reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were stopped by their dog, Pula, who appeared to want to join Harry and Meghan for the Gayle King-moderated talk. The conversation was on Jonathan Haidt and Catherine Price’s latest book, An Amazing Generation, and Harry and Meghan called in from their Montecito, California, residence. When King noticed Pula in the background, Harry laughed and added, “She’s been sitting next to us, chewing a stick.”
Meghan wore a pink shirt and a $18,700 Cartier Juste Un Clou necklace, which the Duchess of Sussex has previously worn. She recently wore the yellow gold choker embellished with 57 diamonds to mark an As Ever product launch in October, as well as when she visited Colombia with Harry in 2024 and for the Invictus Games in 2022.
According to The Daily Mail, on Thursday’s chat, Meghan stated that she and Harry were “proud to be a part of” the parent-led push to reduce phone-based childhoods, to which Harry added, “Yeah, hugely.”
“And the insights have been incredibly valuable over the years for our work with parents who have lost their children to online harms,” he says. “And working towards solutions to keep all children safe.”
Last year, Harry went on the “Hasan Minhaj Doesn’t Know” podcast and revealed that he and Meghan had difficult conversations regarding their children’s future on social media. “We talk about it a lot,” Harry explained. “I think that because of what we know now, we will be way more cautious and hesitant of allowing our kids to have access to social media, but the problem is, so many parents don’t have that awareness.”
While this is Meghan’s first public appearance in 2026, she sent out a note to her As Ever followers, stating, “With the rush of the holiday season behind us, we look ahead with an intention to begin the new year at a gentler pace.”
“Making space for moments that matter—shared over a cup of tea, by candlelight, or simply taking a pause when the day allows,” she explained. “A reminder that how you start matters, and that easing in can be its own kind of resolution.”
