UCLA’s PP405 Molecule Shows Promise for Hair Loss Therapy

For quite some time, progress in hair restoration methods and treatments for hair thinning and loss seemed to have plateaued. However, in recent times, options for rejuvenating fragile hair have greatly expanded. Today, there is a wide range of choices available, including retail products, professional treatments, and even surgical options. Addressing hair loss is no longer perceived as an unattainable challenge. A new discovery made by researchers at UCLA might have introduced yet another possibility in the ever-growing list of global hair loss solutions.

“At some point, many individuals experience hair thinning or loss due to chemotherapy, infections, or other stressors, and this can have a psychological impact on them,” states William Lowry, a researcher at UCLA and a professor of molecular, cell, and developmental biology. Although the researchers maintain a cautious sense of optimism, the results were statistically significant. Even more thrilling, the clinical trials indicated the presence of “terminal” hair growth, which refers to complete strand growth rather than just fine fuzz.
