Bad Bunny wins album of the year, becoming first Spanish-language album to do so

At the 2026 Grammys, Bad Bunny won album of the year for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.

The celebrity appeared surprised as presenter Harry Styles mentioned his name, concealing his face and crying in his seat before slowly mounting the stage. He addressed the rest of his remarks in Spanish, but remarked quickly in English, “I want to dedicate this award to all the people who had to leave their homeland, their country, to follow their dreams.”

He competed in the category against Justin Bieber (Swag), Sabrina Carpenter (Man’s Best Friend), Clipse, Pusha T, and Malice (Let God Sort Em Out), Lady Gaga (Mayhem), Kendrick Lamar (GNX), Leon Thomas (Mutt), and Tyler, The Creator (Chromakopia). DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS is the first Spanish-language record to win record of the Year.

Bad Bunny received multiple awards, including best urban music album and best global music performance for “EoO.” During his música urbana win, he addressed the current political climate in the US, telling the audience, “Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say ICE out.””We are not savages, animals, or aliens; we are humans and Americans,” he said. “The hate grows stronger with greater hate. The only thing more powerful than hatred is love. So we need to be unique. If we fight, we must do so with love. We don’t detest them. We adore our folks. We love our family, and that is the way to show it. Please don’t forget that. “Thank you.”

Bad Bunny is off to a fantastic start this month, since he will lead the Super Bowl halftime show next weekend.
