Does that sound unbelievable? We thought so, too, so we gathered a group of InStyle editors with various hair types and textures to test the most popular heat protectants on the market. Over the course of four weeks, we closely examined every aspect of these heat protectants, from how they made our hair appear and feel to the aroma and how long it took for them to permeate. Then, we burnt our strands with hot tools at 450 degrees to see how effectively they protected our hair. We gave bonus points to products that provided additional benefits we desired, such as increased hydration, glossy brilliance, and no evidence of a flyaway.
