When it comes to men’s fragrance trends this summer, we expect traditional marine or citrus scents to come to life in commercials featuring the hottest man you’ve ever seen lounging on a yacht in Capri. Alternatively, we might anticipate cult classics like Bleu de Chanel or Armani’s Acqua di Gio—after all, most men I know are creatures of habit. However, according to TikTok data reviewed by AXE, the most-searched scent note among guys isn’t what we expected.
Surprising Men’s Fragrance Trends to Try This Summer
According to AXE, men are actively searching for “summer scents” and “tropical colognes” on the app, with search volume increasing by over 1,000 percent. The top result wasn’t dark and woody or citrusy and refreshing—it was “tropical blends,” which has been searched 920,000 times this season. Coconut is particularly popular, with searches for “coconut scent for guys” increasing by 45 percent in recent months.
Men are certainly seeking more versatility in their fragrance choices, and the following discovery that surprised us is a prime example. AXE researched both “scent categories” and “fragrance notes” and found that cherry is currently the most searched fragrance note among men. Cherry?! We knew it had been a popular trend among women all year—we even included a Best Cherry Fragrance category in our Beauty Awards—but we didn’t expect men to be just as hooked.
For those looking to try cherry, AXE offers a men’s body spray called Cherry Spritz ($8). If you prefer an EDP, Tom Ford’s Lost Cherry ($255) and our 2025 award-winning Fine’ry Not Another Cherry ($37) are excellent options.
