Charli XCX stuns with three scene-stealing looks in a day for Wuthering Heights

Date:

Some famous people go on press tours. Charli XCX takes over in terms of style.

The singer-songwriter performed three step-and-repeats in a single day in Beverly Hills with the endurance of a runway model and the intuition of an experienced fashion insider. The event was Wuthering Heights, Emerald Fennell’s melancholic book-to-film adaption, for which Charli wrote the main songs. However, the outfit conveyed a narrative that was equally cinematic as the soundtrack.

Instead of keeping to one distinctive look, Charli XCX varied the day like chapters in a novel: gothic, romantic, then after-dark minimalism.

Look 1: Victorian, But Make It Brat

Her debut appearance leaned into literary nostalgia with a rebellious edge. A vintage John Galliano Fall 2003 knit cardigan placed over a camisole gave texture and drama with sheer lace sleeves and exquisite floral embroidery. It acknowledged the windswept, Victorian atmosphere of the movie without going overboard with the costumes.

It remained distinctly Charli thanks to the styling. Christian Louboutin’s Miss Z shoes sharpened the silhouette, while a black Saint Laurent pointelle midi skirt that was slightly sheer and skimmed the calf added slinkiness. Yes, the outcome seemed romantic, but it also had a downtown feel. It wasn’t cosplay; it was method dressing.

Look 2: Couture Takes Centre Stage

By nightfall, the tone changed from subdued to dramatic. Charli appeared wearing a custom-made Vivienne Westwood ballgown that was equal parts historical and proportional. Westwood’s irreverence was evident in the dramatic hourglass shape generated by the pannier-like hips and the corseted, square-neck bodice that molded the torso. The architectural form was softened by wisps of muted gold tulle that flowed across the bust and split into an elongated train.

On paper, Charli’s low-rise, leather, and late-night style may appear incompatible with a billowing ballgown. In practice, it worked because she wore it with nonchalance. Less princess, more punk royalty.

Look 3: After-Hours Minimalism

She took it all off for the Chateau Marmont after-party. Her jewelry spoke for itself in a plunging little black dress that exuded ease and elegant lines. Luxury can often speak louder than showmanship, as demonstrated by Darius diamonds, which were featured in everything from a dramatic drop necklace to a parade of marquise and cushion-cut rings.

One day, three looks, no repeat.

If this press trip is any indication, Charli XCX is presently constructing a fashion story. And just now, every chapter belongs to her.
